I have a WFL snare similiar to this one, but the wrap was removed and it has a different throwoff. The snare response was not so good, so I had the snare beds cut down just a bit. Now the snare response is better, but it sounds kinda muffled, like when you engage a muffler on a snare. It seemed to ring more before the cut, is there anything I can do to get it to ring more? Or did I make a mistake having the beds cut?

Those drums usually had real deep snare beds on them. So much so that it was tough get the non calf heads to not wrinkle at the snare beds.
