WFL snare with US painted on shell

Loading...

I picked this snare drum up at a special Army surplus center for non-profit orgs in the late 60's. It is an 8 lug (square with round base), dark wood (possibly mahogany) with a WFL Keystone Badge and the words Wm. F Ludwig President around vent hole. It has the number 56 stamped on the inside shell. In large blue letters above the badge is painted U.S. (probably by the govern.) It's 14 x 6...My guess it is possibly late 30's to 40's vintage. My camera was stolen so no pics right now. I will be glad to furnish any other info if requested. Value is not as important as possible vintage and some history.

I have a marching drum that is WFL and has that U.S. in blue letters above the badge. I think they made lots of drums for the millitary around 1941-42. Sounds like you have a nice drum.
