WFL Snare Lug Question

Loading...

I have a WFL snare that has lugs with black grooves. Although the drum was re-wrapped and the interior spray painted at some point, the black paint in the lug grooves looks so neatly and precisely done that it seems like a factory feature. Has anyone ever seen this before? I posted a few photos below.

This drum is also currently up for auction on Ebay.

Mine does NOT have anything in the lugs like that. I really wouldn't think that is factory. It looks kinda tacky lol.

I bet it would easily polish off.

Also what year is that? I am going to guess older because the lugs don't look quite like mine and mines a 58.

Yea i went to ebay and found it. Dont worry I wont buy it haha. It looks like its painted on the inside and just kinda really rough shape to me. Granite I am new to the whole drum knowledge thing.

If you wanna see what my lugs look like just go find some of my threads. These look a little different than mine. They don't have paint and I never seen one that does.

As I stated in my original post, I am aware that the interior of the drum has been painted. I also own several other WFL drums, none of which have this feature. I was just curious if it has ever popped up anywhere else. Other than the extra hole and painted interior, the shell is actually in nice shape, but thanks for your opinion. I didn't post this question to try and sell it to you. Obviously this is a project/players drum, but will sound great once a bottom rim, head and snares are present.

I think you meant to say "Granted."

If anyone knows a source for WFL catalog pages, please let me know. I have been having some trouble coming across any scans. Thank you.

I actually like the way this looks, original or not.

Well certainly didn't mean to offend you. I know your not trying to sell it to me. I am just saying what I thought and yes with work it will be a good players drum. I guess I have a different standpoint on it than you do.

I would go with vintagemore2000 he knows what he is saying. If he said it isn't factory then it isn't. I know he has a few WFL drums too.

The lugs look to me like someone took a Sharpie to 'em. I only say this because my guys at work have managed to "paint" every indentation on every wrench in my toolbox, with a Sharpie, and it looks quite similair.x-mas3
