WFL snare drum question

Loading...

Hi All,

I'm new here and this is my first post. It's a privilege to have access to so much vintage drum knowledge and experience. I recently acquired a 1958, 6.5x14 WFL wood snare drum, 16 lugger, in aqua marine sparkle wrap. The drum is very clean and tunes up beautifully. Only issue is the tone control is missing. Can someone tell me what would be correct for that particular drum? Thanks.

Hi,

There are two holes. One has been filled in such a way as not to disturb the wrap and the other has a screw in it. The drum sounds warm, fat and crispy all at the same time.

you'll need to get the small knob bottom hole tone control in what ever flavor hardware you have chrome or nickel. look at this tone control here does this match the hole patern you have on your WFL, this is from a preserial number ludwig which should be the same as yours?

That's it. Do you happen to have a pic of the muffler side?

here is the inside of a floor tom, but this is what they all look like.

Nice is that a 16 or 14, and is that in black cortex?
