WFL flaky finish

I have some pics of an old WFL set... they look rough, and beyond my meager restoration abilities... would someone venture a before -restoration value? And then, should I re- post to the restoration section for advice about proceeding forward with repairs? Thanks so very much...Kevins

WOW...THAT KIT IS OLD...THE SHEET-METAL LUGS AND ALL.

On the one hand, I would say that you could sand down the shells and then get them repainted by a professional (an auto or motorcycle detailer can do a great job on re-painting finishes...far better than most drum renovators).

On the other hand...I do wonder if a repaint would diminish the set's value and therfore be considered...VERBOTENelectricit

So, perhaps only a good polishing/repair of hardware and general cleanup would be as far as one should go, using era-correct replacement parts only if necessary? And what would this set be worth in present condition? Thanks, Kevins

My 2 cents, is that it seems probably about right as far as asking price. You know what has to be done with the drums. It's really just a question as to whether you want to afford it all. Painting or rewrapping means it won't be all original, but currently we all can see that something should be done. It's a nice kit, and has a lot of potential to be something quite nice.

I don't think you will look back and say it was a spectacular find price-wise, but you will probably look back and say either that you were glad you did it when it came up, or that you wished that you would have bought it!

Good luck,

Kevin

$675 is a good price, actually. It includes a snare, for goodness sake. Take it; maybe offer $600-25 and see if he bites....

Worst case scenario, if it proves to be too much of a bear, you can always sell it and recoup all of that $.
