hello im new to the site but i know a fair ammount about drums..without seeing any pictures could anyone tell me what a while marine pearl WFL set would be worth? ive concluded its a late 50's set because theres no searal numbers but it has the address of the company in chicago..the drums are in good condition maybe a good cleaning and a front bass drum head and i think its good to go...any ballpark range on what its worth? my friends brother got it real cheap and just wants a beginner set so i might shoot him an offer or trade him a pearl export set i got or something

thanks alot!-Willey

without knowing how many drums are with the kit, for example it's a 4 piece kit and as mentioned in good condition, and the guy will trade for a pearl export kit, the answer is a resounding absolutely YES, you would easily come out to the good, as long as it is a classic lugged 4 piece drum set it would be worth at least a $1000.00, good luck.

I look at it this way...if the current owner is DUMB enough to trade a nice vintage kit away for a crappy Pearl Export set....then he gets what he deserves. You can't possibly tell me that in this day and age of the internet that the guy has NO clue as to what it is really worth. Besides....you said HE got it cheap too! So who's really taking advantage of whom in this senario? Sounds more like your friend took advantage of someone else first. So what's the harm in cheating a cheater?

I say do it before the idiot changes his mind.

Yes, buyer/seller beware...but there is the Karma of it also...explain to the guy the WFL vs. Pearl Export pros & cons and maybe throw in a cymbal or so to "even" out the deal a tad...
