Hey, im wondering how much one would cost/ where to find one? Now that i have my bass drum cymbal mount i would like to up the ante. I looked on http://www.repercussions.org/newpartspage.html but i didnt find one. Anyone know of a site that sells them or someone on here that collects these parts? The original holes are still there on the tom and the bass drum so id like to find the exact match. There is no left over hardwear still attached to the tom either. Thanks!

I think I have the same WFL kit except in BDP. That consolette looks identical to the one I have on my 14x22 bass drum. So you will just need to hunt down the mounting bracket for the tom. What are the two additional holes just foward of the consolette mount point on the BD for?

Thats a beautiful kit you got there..

Looking at the yellowing around the consolette and the yellowing around the two holes looks like they were removed at the same time and those two holes are exactly opposite of the cymbal mount and have the same yellowing pattern as the cymbal mount because there is a space between the two holes where there is no metal so its yellowed between the two. I really dont know if they made these drums to have two cymbal mounts on it though. Mine are from 1954 if that helps explain anything.

Mbbw!...

Sure they did!... it's the WFL/Ludwig "Buddy Rich Classic" set up. Here's a shot of mine, and these are 1948/49 with aluminum WFL badges. This was taken after sound check at a gig so the stage light is low... it took out my cymbals, but they're there! The mount for the splash cymbal is in the same spot as yours.

Cool! Ive had these drums for a few years now and im only starting to learn the history of them. Great to know this stuff..i really with i could get my hands on the tom consolette and the other cymbal mount. My bass drum is 22", dose that mean its not a Buddy Rich Classic?

Thanks MbbW

Doh! Of course! The splash cymbal stand. My BD does not have that option.

Seems funny though, because the best I've been able to date this kit is between 1948 - 1952 (Brass WFL Drum Co. badges) So they seem to be from the same general era as Tommyp's kit. No date stamps in any of the shells. I've had them since 1964.

I was under the impression that the 22" BD would MORE likely make it a Buddy Rich Classic. But don't go by me. There are folks on this forum whose knowledge of drums is, well.....scary! LOL

Seems like he played a 24" most of the time..wow this thread with Tommyp's contributions is a real eye opener.

As a history student i love hearing about all this old stuff! I am proud to own a drum kit that is older than my father that i can, through threads like this, actually trace back to such a cool time in history of instrument production.

Kudos to the folks to have kept this stuff alive!

Neat that you found more information by checking PAST threads/posts! There truly is a wealth of info on this site and a lot of nice guys willing to help/share knowledge. Welcome and enjoy your stay! That said...

Buddy pretty much ALWAYS played a 14X24 bass drum... ( regardless of company/endorsement ) ... and WFL/Ludwig did indeed catalog his signature "Buddy Rich Super Classic" sets with the 14X24. One could even substitute a 14X26 back then at no extra charge! As time went on the drum companies kind of got away from cataloging Buddy's sets with the 24" as the 14X22 became a more popular size... but ... Buddy continued to play a 24" with all his bands, and to the drum companies credit, one could always substitute the 24" for the 14X22 at no extra charge. For whatever reason... ( size? popularity? ) ... most guys opted for the 14X22 with the cataloged Buddy Rich sets. So today... to find a WFL/Ludwig... Rogers ... Slingerland... with the 24" is really neat and almost coveted! For example:

The 1965 Rogers Buddy Rich Celebrity set shown in my moderator/avatar picture has the Rogers 14X22 Holiday bass drum... Buddy always played a 24" while with Rogers, but Rogers still cataloged the BR Celebrity set as coming with the 14X22 as standard, and again, the 14X24 could be substituted at no extra charge! By 1955, WFL/Ludwig was already cataloging Buddy's set with the 14X22 as standard, even though he was of course still playing a 14X24.
