Here's a picture of me, my girlfriend Cathy and Mark Farner from GFR.
He did a clinic here in San Antonio yesterday, we were able to meet him and have our picture taken with him. He's a very down to earth guy. Too bad Don Brewer wasn't with him.
That's cool!!Cool1. how long was the clinic and was it well attended?
I loved some of the stuff he did after he got saved. "Just Another Injustice" was a pretty cool album (tape). I liked GFR and "Closer to Home" is still one of those songs that touches me, but man, when he got saved, he started playing for GOD. That totally rocks! He was nominated for a Dove award for one of his solo cuts ... can't remember the name of it. Dang. Love this guy. Great testimony. Did he speak to you about it? Rough road and a great save. Check it out ... you might find it online.
He talked about it a bit at his clinic, but you know how these things go, can't chat too long, keep the line moving. However, Cathy, my girlfriend, mentioned GFR holding the record for attendence at a Shea stadium concert. His eyes lit up and he said YES! And no one will ever break it, because they tore down Shea stadium, ha, ha! I think Cathy made his day.
He was well received and there were a lot of people there. He played a bit and talked about his son Jesse after Cathy asked him how he was doing. A very good clinic, even without any drum solos.
Did he have his band? Mark's drummer, Hubert (or H-Bomb as I call him) is outstanding. I'm a huge Don Brewer fan, but Hubert lays it down!
Well, they had everything set up, but while we were there he only played
by himself. He took a break about halfway through the clinic, but we had to leave because I had to prepare for my gig, so I'm not sure if they actually played with him. I do know later that night he was going to a local club to
play with a full band.
