I never thought in my wildest dream I would be in a country band, however after hearing these guys, I knew this was for me. So I prepared for the audition well. learned the material, and got the call last night, they want me in. I also found out after they looked at over 15 drummers it came down to me and another guy, (must be my personality LOL) . One of the best fiddlers in the midwest is with these guys, it will be a huge change of pace for me, but I'm ready for it. No more wearing ear plugs to block out the marshall stacks. Just plain old fun stuff. They have 2 or 3 albums out, and play clubs I could never get in like Dirty Nellies, Cubby Bear and many more. They also get paid and paid well. they don't even look at gigs for less than $600, most of the time its a grand and they can play as often as they want. Check it out here, now I have to learn 3 hours of material in 3 weeks, for our first gig. Oh Boy.

Congrats Gary! I have found that it is a lot more fun to PLAY some types of music than it is to LISTEN to it especially if the other players are good and it sounds like these guys are. The nice thing about country is that you really have to have discipline to play for the song and you have to land everything right in the pocket. Those are fantastic skills for any drummer. Of course, today's country music resembles pop and rock music so depending on what style you are playing you may be right back in your wheel house. Enjoy brother.

Congratulations! I think your going to have a blast. Playing with people that are easy to get along with and are supportive of each other is alot more fun. If you don"t mind, I was wondering what the name of the band is. I play mainly along the WI/IL border and maybe we'll cross paths once in a while. Thanks, Gerald.

Congrats on what sounds like a blast of a band to play with! You'll learn more in six months with those guys than you'd learn in six years on your own! Just remember, down the road when you're playing one of those numbers for the 87th time, relax and have fun! The Band

Sounds like a GREAT gig!

Well butter my buns and call me a bisquit...and boy howdie.......congrats.That looks like a blast of a gig to me.I love the sound of a well played fiddle/violin.

It seems you don't need the luck, because in beating out 15 other guys, you have the talent.

I've heard of that band before also...maybe on another forum.

Anyway...break a leg.Clapping Happy2
