Well, the deed is done...

I had to make room. The gorgeous WMP that our buddy kevins sold me more than 2 years ago now reside in a church. Life Church in Stoolwater...ahem, Stillwater, OK is now the proud owner of a classic kit that was restored and "upgraded" by Coffeehouse Custom Recreations. The young man that purchased them for the church was literally blown away when he sat down to run through them, and they were cold, so out of tune, but still blew him away. I am a happy camper, he is even happier.

He actually came here, to VDF, to research me before buying them. My ad on C/L read something like "restoration by one of the worlds leading authorities on MIJ drums..." and looked me up. They are amazing drums, and I think they will fill that church with a joyful noise, literally! I did install a maple interior veneer on 3, and it had the snare I had to rebuild included. That was a mean snare. I actually shed tears when I walked them out. They have a tone that is so deep most guys just can't fathom it....(pun intended)Burger Kin

Well, IMO (if that's worth anything to anybody), your "customer" just got better drums that what he could have spent a fortune on at GC or someplace else... and that's because you obviously put your "heart" into your work!

Keep up the good work!

They are the very ones. At least he did his homework to make sure he was getting more than he paid for. This was the first person that actually researched me, and that is a humbling experience, when you are dealing with a buyer. I am glad I did not over-pump my restoration gifts, but I do know my way around anything made of wood.

Guys, if you want to get all the money for your gear, just do it right, don't cut corners and make sure you offer a fair deal on sale in order with it's real value, not some over-inflated number, like 10K for some worn out Downbeat... We don't have Gold-Tops...afterall, and we can't get close to those numbers anyway unless it is a "Birdland".

I'm sorry to hear about this, John. I believe your work on that set was the best example of your restoration and customization skills to date.

But if you're happy with where they ended up and the knowledge that they'll be well played as they should, then I guess you can't ask for much more.

Here's to hoping you've got another great project in the works!
