I am not sure if it's me, but the forum has been running excruciatingly slow the last couple of days... Any one else having that issue?

I think David mentioned awhile back he is hosting this site in a shared server environment... I think that typically means your cost to have a website is based on the bandwidth made available to you to serve the site to the public.
So using the old water analogy.. if your selling water and you have more customers than you can give enough water to... you have to pay for a bigger water pipe to supply them.
Sometimes that can be as easy a shelling out the cash... sometimes it means moving the site to new servers.. sometimes it means new IP addresses and a new DNS (Domain Name System) entry (this matches your website name to your Internet numerical address)that name and number match has to propagate around the world. Kind of like getting a new phone number.. people call the old one till the new phone book comes out.
I guess the bottom line is until we start contributing some cash to our benevolent webmaster... it probably would be a bigger drain on his pocket and his time to speed the site up.
People like me who suffer a minor addiction to this site probably need to be paying to use it...
Yep, it is terrible... The shared server is maxed out..
I will be biting the bullet in the next two weeks and going for the dedicated server for all of the sites...
I'm trying to coordinate this with one of two different much more knowledgable programmers who would handle the protection of data.
The new server is about $900 per year and currently I'm spending $300
per year, so it is a big jump, but all of the issues will go away and there
will be plenty of growing room...
I will set a deadline by Monday for this..

Donation made.
I can also recommend some hosts I have used too as I am in the business as well.
On another note - I'd like to offer to design a new logo and graphics for the site. David - PM me.
I would also like to donate something. Please PM me, David.

Ok folks, just did the bullet biting and got it for $1300 since I did a two year term...
Better to do it once and go for the better option then to get a Virtual Dedicated or stay on shared....
Thanks tommy stixx... The problem is there 5 sites connected to this one so they all need the same logo style..
I also have seperate .com domains that I have been holding for this faithful day!
So, this forum has the domain vintagedrumforum.com the store has vintagedrumstore.com, plus vintagecymbalguide.com and vintagedrumguide.com... I also have vintagedrumsets.com and vintagesnaredrums.com!!!
These are mixed up between three different companies... I have this site on one server, another site on GoDaddy the cymbal site on a dedicated server with another company and then the virtual on GoDaddy which I just got..
I do have experience with GoDaddy dedicated and it has been great....
So now I have to get everything on one server and with one registrar!
Where do I start? .... Well I have 12 hours before the dedicated is ready and I will move the cymbal first, then the store while I find someone to do the proper SSH/Telnet back up that the forum software company suggests..
I will move this post over to web site updates...
Ohh, a logo for the forum is great!
David
Here is the donation page for the forum... It has been in place for a year or so and I never advertised it... We have had a few donations over the last year.
I have all of the donators turned off, so it is all on a private basis, do you all prefer that?
Otherwise it will post it and attach it to your user ID....
