Was Lawrence Welk a "Harmony Pirate"?

Loading...

Found this Leedy online, came from Wisconsin.

Not sure about year, Late 20's? I've never seen a Leedy badge like this but I'm no expert.

Looks like big band era drum with all of the names of band members.

I've researched the names and other than LW didn't find anything. Welk did record in Wisconsin in 1928.

Has a plug for a light/lamp.

I don't think it's any kind of fake, who would fake this? lol

I think it is cool as hell, I'm going to change the heads (and carefully store them) and see how she does.

Very nice nostalgia

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Looks legit to me!

Really cool painted bass drum head, too!

Does it have any residue from Champagne bubbles? (sorry, I couldn't help it) You might try contacting the Shrine to Music Museum in South Dakota. I think Mr. Welk was from that part of the country.

Wow that's the same drum I was bidding on. I wont say what web site it is. Anyway when I was bidding on it I did go on to Google Harmony Pirates Lawrence Welks web page came up about his show Their was a group H.P. on his show, the web page also listed all the cast members of his show..

Just a side note PBS on the west cost still plays his shows.

I searched and searched, you probably don't have link for that info?

I contacted a very nice Lady who has worked for The Welks for 50 years.

She is the curater of a small museum in California that is a "resort" I thinks it's an RV park.

I sent her several pictures, she was excited, said she would ask around.Mallet Player2
