Amazing craftsmanship! Love seeing your work thanks for sharing.
war time drum inspired
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.
At R.Adammaybe, but then I'll use pre-existing shells and only make the hardware. On the Dutch internet-market (called Marktplaats) sometimes Sonor Actions show up for little money. Nice quality beech shell with plastic hardware. Sound great!. Maybe I'll buy a set of those once. I have about 6 hours a week to spend on this hobby, so making segmented shells for a whole kit will take a year. There to much idea's in my head to be stuck in just one project.Next time I'll use oak for the hardware though, I would like a little more "drama" in the grain.
Ha ha! I've never thought of oak as "dramatic", but I'll get on board with that. Love to see it and love your work!
Wow! Very nice work indeed! Every detail is interesting on it's own and the whole is remarkable!
That's a beautiful work of art bordering on sculpture. The fact that it's playable just makes it more remarkable. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to more of your creations.

Thanx all for your compliments!
I've been testing the sound. It works best with a high tension on the batter side and a somewhat lower tension on the snare side.
However in general it sounds too thin and cleaar to my ears. It has double 45 edges, I planning on changing that in full roundovers, to make the sound warmer. Not afraid of loosing volume: it's loud as ^#(& now, so no problem if it got a little quieter.

While I ordered wrap for another drum (see other trhread) I couldn't help myself buying wrap for this drum.I reconed it would look better with an aged pearl wrap. I tried. Now I think it does.
