vistalites/wood hoops

Loading...

i have an original release ludwig vistalite set and had questions about using wood hoops.

of course with the vistalites being acrylic the sound isnt the best....

has anybody laced a set of vistalites with wood hoops and if so, does it warm the sound up ANY?

love the look of the acrylic drums i just wish i could get a wood sound or close to one....

I'm confused does your kit not have wood hoops on it ? They are supposed to be wood from the factory, here is a link give it a look. http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/images/ludwig_sets/1975_ludwig_drumsets2.jpg

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

I believe he is asking about putting wood hoops on the entire kit.

I had steel hoops on the bass drum of my vistalite kit when I got it and I replaced them with original wood hoops and immediately noticed a warmer sound. I would imagine the same might happen with wood hoops on the rest of the drums.

Yes, i apologize about lack of detail.

my bass drum is 22"with wood hoops and Silver sparkle inlay.

The wood hoops im referring to would be for the Toms!D' Drummer

That would be a pretty expensive retrofit, not that it is a bad idea if course. For what you will have in new hoops, tension rods and claws you could pick up another vintage kit. Then you would have to very disparate sound options and feature the Vistalites for what they are. Plus more drum kits is always cool.
