I get this question all of the time on the main web site to find out a year of manufacture for a particular drum. I do know that research has been done for dating 60's drums by the serial number.
The Ludwig Book by rob Cook has some of the 70's broken down by serial number and based on the number given this is late 76 maybe 77.
I hope that helps, but in vintage drums anything is possible and we have to allow for certain variations and anomalies with drums.

There are some production changes over the years that might also help date a vistalite drum. The very excellent Jim Rethwish site has all the details
