Vistalite cleaning and polishing

Loading...

I just picked up a 1970's clear Visalite kit today-shells are in perfect condition with no cracks, spider splintering etc. What is the best way to clean the shells and then polish them?

The other question I had is the bass drum spurs are those curved things-do they make a more traditional bass drum leg for them?

Cant wait to play them-saved for a long time to get them and they are going to look awesome.

As always thanks for the help everyone!!

Congrats on the new kit! The clear Vistalites are really classy I think. After removing the hardware, I clean the shells with dawn/water and then just water. I use Novus 2 on the shells. You can use Novus 1 after that, but some don't. I soak the chrome parts in dawn/water overnight and then polish them using a good metal polish.

Those legs are the ones for it. They work very well. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice-I am heading out of town but will post pics in a week of so-the kit looks awesome. Will just have to troll around and get a clear snare for it. The guy I got if from was great to deal with and through in a pair of vintage new beat hats and a speed king pedal too. All Ludwig stands to go with it including the hi hat stand. Everything is in great shape and I could get away with not havng to clean etc but I want it looking top notch so it will look even more awesome!!

Also just to add to this old thread, using Meguiars Car polish, by hand, really does remove surface scuffs. And using WD40 on a rag to remove tape adhesive also works well.
