Vistalite advise needed!

Loading...

Hi, i have decided to clean and then sell my 14x5" vistalite snare in clear finish due to personal reasons.

The shell is in quite good shape and no cracks with a nice seam. I would like to do a nice polish on it to make it like new but not sure what cleaner to use. There are some very light (and i mean very light, no gouges) scuffs, will Novus 2 be the best or should i use Novus 1?

Also the seam as i said is nice and tight, no repairs done to it. Should i apply a thin epoxy to give it strength or just leave it as is. It has the factory bearing edges that are typical slight uneveness at the seam but not jagged. I have tapped on the shell and no buzzing so i know it is strong. Also the seam is visible, does that indicate a potential problem?

Hardware has some pitting but not flaking. I planned on using blue magic polish on those pieces.

One more thing, what batter head would have come with this drum from the factory? The serial number dates it to 1976.

Thanks for advice, Gary.

Leave the drum as-is, give a good description in your for sale ad and let the new owner take it apart and detail it. The fact that it may be a little funky will not affect asking price. Good luck with your sale...

Too many great drums to list here!
