Hello to whomever has taken the time to stop by my thread.
A while ago VDF forum member fayray added a thread about re-wrapping a kit in gold sparkle upholstery vinyl.
I followed his lead and have recently finished the job on a kit of my own.
If you have an orphan kit made of many different coloured drums that aren't worth very much then I would highly recommend re-wrapping them with this material.
Below are some images from my rehearsal space with my recently purchased Ludwig Acrolite snare.
The kit is a mixture of ZymGar and Hoshino hardware and the shells are luan with I think a birch inner ply. The lugs are all Rogers Beavertail copies.
Sizes are 22"x16" kick, 16"x15" floor tom and 13"x10" rack tom.
I have also re-wrapped an old pearl phenolic 14"x14" floor tom which you can see in one of the other images.
Still to be re-wrapped to complete this kit:
- a 12'x8" rack tom
- a 14"x6.5" Beverley New Standard maple snare
- maybe the 10"x6" pearl fiberglass tom I collected recently
Thanks must go to VDF forum member "fayray" who most generously went to the dealer to purchase and ship the vinyl on my behalf and to "iamadrumbum" who also very helpfully supplied many parts that I was missing from this kit and my other Star kit which is a work in progress.
