So in my search to find great sounding, versatile, used cymbals that i can leave at one of the pubs i gig at, i found this little guy, advertised as a "chinese" cymbal in one of my local pawn shops. I don't know too much about Sabian (i use Paiste) but the cymbal looks like an older/vintage HH 18" crash cymbal, but because the ink has faded, i can't tell if it's a medium thin, dark, thin, dark thin, etc. I have used Sabian in the past, and think they sound great. Now my questions for you Sabian guys are-- how old is this cymbal ? How many models/types of crashes in this line existed at that time ? I just checked on Youtube for some demos, and found a few modern, and some older ones, but i did not take a listen to the "Remastered" versions that came out a few years back, as i'm sure they won't sound the same. I love the dark, smokiness of these cymbals, and i think it would be a great cymbal to use for some cover gigs. Also, if it does end up being an HH crash, i may put an offer in for $90 and would like to know if you guys think it's fair ?
Any info is greatly appreciated !
Cheers,
Rob
