Made a trip up to Wyoming to pick up a set of CB700's. Boy what a surprise I got. First, turns out this was a one owner setup. They guy told me he got them for Christmas in 1978.
Beautiful light blue sparkle. Never seen that color before. I'll post some pics up in another thread later. But along with the CBs was this Whitehall snare, that obviously didn't match. Seems his parents knew nothing about drums and bought the shellpack for the kit without the snare. Then had to make another trip to the music store to get a snare. He played them for a few weeks and then lost interest. They've litterally been sitting in his grandmothers closet for 36 years!
Anyhow, everything was dusty and I have not cleaned up the CBs yet, but I did get a chance to clean up the snare. It is virtually mint condition, not a spec of rust, pitting, peeling, scarring, fading, or blemish of any kind, anywhere. The battter head had been used and was dirty, so I swapped it but other than that it looked like it just came off the showroom floor.
Not sure if I'm going to keep this for my own collection or throw it up on the bay. If I do sell it, how much should I take for it. Just saw an old rusty champagne sparkle Stewart go for $65, and this is light years better than that. Oh, btw, what wrap is this, silver marine pearl or something?
