Vintage WFL bass from Frank's Drum Shop - ID/value?

Loading...

I've got a 22" drum set bass drum - black w/ gold stripe finish and gold sparkle hoops. The WFL badge matches the badges for the '48-'52 time frame. The drum appears to be all original, including the heads, which have a stamp that reads "Amrawco Standard Frank's Drum Shop Chicago, Ill." The paint, lugs, and heads all show wear, typical of a 60 year old drum. I had never heard of Frank's until I bought this drum, but it's very cool to know this drum was sold there 60 years ago. I'm not necessarily interested in selling, but more curious as to the value, rarity, etc. of the drum. Ebay has no listing for any Amrawco heads or any actual merch from Frank's, so I'm at a dead end.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks

Frank's Drum shop was the place to go in Chicago. Like Faust in MKE, Pro Drum in L.A. and many others. If not mistaken Steve Maxwell resided in that hallowed structure until downtown real estate value ( and parking ) became silly. I often thought a book could be written about the many legendary ( and often family run ) music shops before this stuff became another commodity. Personally, I'd hang onto that one. :2Cents::2Cents:

There is indeed a book about Frank's Drum Shop - FRANK'S FOR THE MEMORIES. I've got a copy signed by Maurie Lishon, owner of Frank's.
