Vintage Trixon Snare

Brett...

Nice job on the snare re-fit of your Trixon, and yes, NO HOLES were drilled... excellent! I do have to make one comment though:

The stock Trixon throw/snare set-up works perfectly when installed correctly and isn't completely mangled or stretched out of shape. The parallel system and snares function flawlessly and sound excellent on mine, but as I have mentioned, I had to work on it and essentially rebuild it for proper function/sound.

Almost all the Trixon snare drums representing this particular model seem to have issues with the snares and parallel throw-off system... and from what I have been able to asertain, over time, the snares have been way over-tensioned, leading to stretch, wire pull out, and torque issues. It's difficult to find one that is complete and functions as intended, as mine is and does. What happened to yours seems to be the norm.

Again, nice job!... and yet another drum preserved... and played!

Thanks.

One question...

Is your snare the same height as mine? How did you measure it?

I'll let ya know how the Rhythmn Tech strainer works. From the look and sound of it the design is similar in principle to the Swivo. Seems like it might be a nice fir for both the Trixon and the Rogers without the overhead price of $75.00 for the Swivo frame and $45.00 for the snares.

Hey Brett...

Mine is a 5X14... most ALL of this model are. You are correct though, when you take the actual measurement, it does come out at 4 3/4"... but Trixon calls it a 5X14.

Regarding snares: I'm sure you will have excellent results with the RT snares... I have heard good things about them. For me though, I strive for all my drums to be correct with regard to OEM parts. Only then are they worth anything as collectibles... and they still sound fabulous... and I DO play 'em! It all depends on your personal situation and desires as to HOW you set up any drum... after all, they're your drums! :-)

Hello, please would you mind to tell me if this snare is a TRIXON 1/440 SNARE*too?

It seems very similar but it mounts different lugs. Probably it came with a 50s Trixon kit, maybe a Trixon Solist or a Trixon Luxus because it has come with the tom and the floor tom showed on the pics. It came from a family heritage so probably will be sold...

Any kind of clue will be appreciated!

Thanks a lot!

All the best!

Hi, I do not know what to think...

Maybe nobody knows anything about it or maybe no one has read it...

It seems an interesting 50s drum gear... at least for me...

Is there anybody out there, please?

Hello aquofono!

Sorry, as I just saw this now! Your snare drum is not Trixon/VOX ... at least that I have ever seen anyway. Trixon/VOX never used those lugs, and the throw/butt is not Trixon/VOX either. Trixon/VOX only had two styles of lugs: Teardrop, and the square/ribs. Two of my 1967 Trixon/VOX snare drums are featured on Ingo Winterberg's Trixon History website, and he is a friend of mine! I think what you might want to do is contact Ingo. Here is the address: www.trixondrums.de See what he has to say about them .. because .. if they are of German manufacture, he will know I'm sure! BEST!!!

Thanks a lot, Tommy! I think the kit is a kind of fruit salad.

This snare comes with one Premier bass drum from 50s and the tom and floor tom showed on pics, that I think they are really old Trixon, featured with natural old natural Remo skins.

But the snare is a mystery to me. I did not found anything like that surfing the net... And it seems to be good quality for his age, parallel strainer, good rims...

I will continue searching more information and I will try to contact Ingo too.

Thanks again.

All the best!
