Vintage Sonor

Loading...

After about 25 years of not playing drums, I am looking to get back into playing. This week, I'm going to look at a 70's Sonor drumset and was wondering if there were any set ups to stay away from or things to watch out for with Sonor. I don't know too much about Sonor, but I do recall something about plastic lugs or something. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Go to:

and click on the "Identify your kit" section. You can see all the various drums made over the years. Swingers have plastic lugs. Also stay away from Internationals.

THANK YOU ! I have been looking for what type of wood my 1974 Champion 6 was. It was birch. It was bought for me back in 74 buy my parents new on a 50% off Xmas sale for $800.00 w/one 16" crash and 14" Hihats, They didn't know what they got me into then. I just brought it out of the mothballs and have been restoring it, it is metalic ruby, or just plain bright red to the eye and really glows when red spots are on it! I've made alot of $$$$$ with it, but retired it in 94 w/a TAMA Rockstar DX 6 piece, and now retired that w/a PDP/DW CX series 7 piece w/a 22"X 22" Bass. I don't know why i decided to restore my first love but man it feels good to see it glow. The two cymbal stands didn't make though, the hihat stand is worn, but the snare stand is still good. Oh i was 15 years old back then. Hey thanks again! I'll have to upload some pictures to share.band3

Dude,

your story reads just like what was my experience with drums ...

Started 1974, too ...

I like to call my first set 'first love' as well ...

I stopped with playing for a period of 15 years - against your 25 years ...

And now drums forevermore ... Yes Sir
