Vintage Sonor kit - Date?

Loading...

Hi,

I have recently got my hands on an old looking Sonor kit.

I have attached a few shots if anyone out there can help give me any information about her...

The bage you will see in the pictures is only a sticker. It has the Sonor sign on all the lugs.

22" 16" 13"

Peace

Can we see the inside of the shells... From what I can see these are import shells with Sonor Lugs..

The poor construction and grain of the wood on the bass drum do not look like Sonor to me..

Looks like Luan to me. I agree that the shoddy wrap job is not indicative of Sonor quality.

Hi

It seems to be a Swinger model.

It was a low cost serie made by Sonor in late 60s and early 70s.

The lugs are in plastic and it is not the usual Sonor quality.

You can find some at cheap prices in Europe.

If its a Swinger, the swinger shell are 6 ply beech with no re-rings and rounded edges. They are good solid shells, the hardware is the only downside. There should be a 3 digit stamp on the inside of the shell, first digit year, and next two month of manufacture.

I watched the poictures once again... and in fact I am pretty sure it is a Champion model from the mid 70s...

Have a look there : http://www.sonormuseum.com/1975/1975.html
