vintage sonor drumset help

Loading...

I picked up this vintage sonor drum set. Its a 4 piece. 3 shells are sonor. They have the mallet logo on the lugs. was wondering what year these were. Are they worth anything????????. It also came with a ludwig Ghost pedal. The smaller rack tom is not a sonor. Also was wondering about the snare. If it was a sonor also.. Also was wondering where i could find a serial number or marking of what year these were. I was told these were late sonors shells were 1970s and were rosewood shells. Should I restore them, sell them ect.

They are Swingers...German made budget drums from the early 70's. Good solid beech 3 ply shell with rounded bearing edge. Plastic lugs. Nice vintage sound. They were originally wrapped. Someone has removed it and refinished the shells. Not the original snare. One of the toms is non-matching. I would not pay more than $150 even with the Ghost.

If you want help dating them, then give us better photos of the insides, some of the hardware on the drums and maybe a shot all the way around one of the drums.

I have a bunch of Sonor literature, but from the photos I can't tell much

The Ludwig Accent is not the same quality of drums!!

Up to you on the photos..

Actually, there should be a 3 digit date code stamped inside the shells. The way to read it is...

First digit is the last digit of the year.

Second two digits are the month.

therefore...207 would be July 1972 for example.

Take a look.
