Vintage Slingerland Snare Question

I almost bought this snare today. I'm almost sure it's a mid to late 30's Slingerland Broadcaster 8x14.

In pretty good shape but I passed because I have a question maybe someone here can answer.

On the other side of this drum there are three holes in the shell close to the top hoop and three holes close to the bottom hoop both in the identical 3 hole configuration as the muffler.

Could these possibly be from two heating elements Slingerland used on the inside of the shell to keep calf heads in tune? Seems unlikely but his was one scenario offered buy the seller.

Any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

They were probably for mounting light bulb sockets inside the drum for exactly what you stated, heat to keep the heads in even tune.

Interesting. So would these be stock Slingerland holes them?

No definately not. It was added by a previous owner, probably the original owner.
