Vintage slingerland Snare Identification Needed

1. Drum Shell Material --I believe it to be 3 Ply Mahogany

2. Drum Finish --Mahogany

3. Drum Badge -- Oval Slingerland Niles Gold and Black

3. Drum Dimensions -- Depth x Width 7x14

4. Interior Finish -- It appears to be a Tan Paint

5. Hardware Configuration -- 8 lugs, Stick Saver Rims, Zoomatic Strainer (Non throw end has a ludwigpiece that has damaged the drum, this is not original)

6. Strainer Type -- ZooMatic!

7. Any defects, extra holes, finish problems, etc.

Many Defects. Finish gouges cracks and splitting on the inside

8. A Picture if possible

My Observations:

Black and Brass Niles Oval Badge. 1963-1969

"Sound King"

Zoomatic Throw Off

Significant damage to shell interior

Pitting to Metal

Damage to shell Exterior

Quite Severe/Moderate damage to non throw off side of strainer (Unoriginal replacement cracking shell body)

I would like to know the value of this drum as it sets in the pictures as well as the Make/Model of it.

The drum looks like a Slingerland Concert King snare. For the most part with the issues mentioned the drum as a whole would probably sell for between $100 and $150 and that would be for the parts.

It really depends on if the strainer works and if the hoops are brass etc..

The parts can really sky rocket if two people want the same thing at the same time.

This would classify as a parts drum based on the shell problems. If you part it out you probably will get more. The only thing is it takes more time to list the parts and handle the auctions.

Or, you can probably find a shell in better shape missing the hardware and make a nice drum.

What are you planning on doing with the drum?

I am planning on trying to get it from my band director and then recovering the shell If I can get it.

they are not brass hoops.

Ahhh, it is a nice project if the price is right! A few fixes and a vintage looking wrap would make a nice drum.

Let us know what happens.

Be careful recovering a natural finished Slingerland drum. The shells are usually the full 14"; when you put on a wrap, it may make it impossible, or very hard to get heads on it...

There are some pretty nasty little dings in the shell -- but as a project drum, wouldn't it be pretty straightforward to sand and refinish? Or sand and have a wood restorer refinish?

I dunno. If there isn't a lot of $ tied up, it'd look pretty nice.
