Oh man, "Back To The Future"...I'm not surprised no one worried about the drums being correct, since they're just in the bg, but that bright red Gibson that Marty McFly borrows, and that is featured heavily in the scene, didn't even exist in '55! I would have thought at least one person involved in making the film would have caught that!

If Tom Hanks had been involved, the musical gear would have been correct.

Well, maybe he'll be available for the inevitable "re-boot".

You can see that the rack tom is mounted upside down and there is a taped over BO badge visible in a few scenes in Back to the Future.

Coincidentally, the Johnny B. Goode scene in Back to the Future and the talent show scene from That Thing You Do were filmed on the same stage in the same church Gymnasium.

Hollywood usually does, or at least did, a lousy job with instrument blunders over the years.

The Buddy Holly Story was one of the worst, not only with the instruments being wrong, but in general inaccuracy. Just an awful film.

How can you say that it was awful, Bob? It featured Gary Busey. But, that was before he became a total nut case.
