Vintage Slingerland Capri Pearl Snare

Loading...

One of my recent "finds." This one's all original, including the heads. It's my understanding that Slingerland only offered this particular wrap from 1958 through 1963. I'm always looking for vintage drums that are somewhat unique or "out of the norm" so I feel very fortunate to have found this one. I haven't seen too many being offered with this particular wrap. It actually shows better when seen in person. Now I'll have to find "the rest of the family" -- a couple snare drums in Slingerland's Fiesta and Mardi Gras Pearl finishes. THANKS for looking!

That's a beauty!!

Gold lines, WMP dobs, on a black background... is that everything in there on the Capri??

Seems like some other tiny flecks in it in the book but I can't make it out.

Not a Guru... just interested..

I have an opportunity to buy one of these snares in capri. What is a reasonable value? High? Low?

JIM -- Depending on what angle you're looking at the drum, some of the "WMP dobs" (nice phrase BTW!) appear to have a very mild blue or purple tint to them. The randomly scattered gold lines look like straight pins or sewing needles.

Uh..Mind Blowi..WOW, that is one nice looking wrap. I am in the hospital right now recovering from having a large aneurysm repaired in my leg, and that just brightened my day. My wife said I could have it...;-) Of course, she will agree to anything while I am on morphine, it's the after it's over when I find out she was only kidding. Very nice find!

There's something to be said for consistency...even in football. Nice snare. I can't figure out how they put that wrap together. Pretty wild.
