Vintage Slingerland bass drum tension rods

Loading...

Hi all there.

I'm thinking about changing the two bottom t-lugs of my bass drum with standard lugs, to make room for my bass drum pedal. i tried some modern gibraltar lugs but the size is too large. what is the correct size i must look for ?

[EDIT] the model is a 56/59 badge slingerland

thank you

Can't lay my hands on a pitch gauge right now but I'm pretty sure there 12/24. I'm getting ready to do the same thing. A dw9000 doesn't fit very well.

I have a DW 8000. But other than the pedal it is because i can't fine tune the two bottom rods (also on the reso side) because when i lay the bass drum on the floor the tension is modified.

Any suggestion on where to find such 12/24 rods ? (ebay or some specialized online store ?)

thanks

Slingerland tension rods are standard 12/24 diameter / thread so you'd think Gibraltars would work.

Nope, Gibraltar rods are too large, they can't even fit in the claws. As i said, i was suggested trying some "standard" (?) Gibraltars o Pearls rods. Maybe i choosed the wrong sizes.

If you're talking about tension rods like these:

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/drums-percussion/gibraltar-sc-4b-2-tension-lugs-6-pack?source=3WWRWXGP&gclid=CL6NhricmroCFRDl7AodCkUAqw&kwid=productads-plaid^57304005667-sku^446059000000000@ADL4MF-adType^PLA-device^c-adid^30427741227

And they're not fitting through your Slingerland claws and they won't fit in the lugs on your drum, something is wrong.

Post a pic of your drum. There are some MIJ Slingerland clone lugs that won't take regular 12/24 rods. That's all I can think of...

From the '20s until today, with very few exceptions, every company used the same 12/24 rods and the bass drum Ts have the same thread and diameter.

seem that the rods you linked me are for the floor tom.

I purchased this model

[ame]http://www.amazon.com/Gibraltar-SC-BDKR-Bass-Drum-Pack/dp/B0002H00ZQ[/ame]

i'm reading now that also the exists the SC-BDKR/S model, but i can't tell the difference.

Ok in the end the SC-BDKR/S fits perfectly !!

The SC-BDKR/L has a 6 mm diameter (metric) while the SC-BDKR/S has a 7/32" diameter (circa 5,5 mm).

Thank to you all for the suggestions.
