Vintage Rogers Set. Valuable? Rare?

Loading...

Hello. Been away from the drum scene for about 35 years. Just dusted off a set of Rogers I had as a kid/teen. Zildjian cymbals. Thinking about putting on new heads and playing them at home as a hobby. OR, selling them, and buying some "moderately" priced new drums, to also just play at home. In either event, seems like these drums are fairly rare and in great condition. Never lugged them all over the place....

Kinda wondering what they may be worth (approx).

Here's what they are:

Rogers Drums -- "Holiday" Set -- Late 60's, early 70's

I got these in (I think) 1969 or 1970.

Bass - 14 by 22 inches

Serial number 85253

Dayton, Ohio sticker

Solid Grey

Floor tom - 16 by 16 inches

Serial number 6510

Cleveland, Ohio sticker

Speckled Grey

Small tom -- 8 by 12 inches

Serial number - 23397

Fullerton, California sticker

Speckled Grey

Larger tom -- 9 by 13 inches

Serial number - 22294

Fullerton, California sticker

Speckled Grey

Rogers Dyna Sonic "Custom Built" snare

Serial number - 29355

6 by 14.5 inches (with rims on) -- 10 Lugs

Cymbals -- All Zildjian

2 high hats - 14 inch

One ride - 20 inch

One "sizzle" ride- 19 inch

3 cymbal stands -- ONE missing top part and large "screw"

Original high hat and bass drum pedal

Original throne

The color is Red Onyx Pearl("I think that was the original name....")

ALL original hardware. No extra holes. Drums have no cracks, marks, etc. Rims have no rust.

Feel free to let me know if you may be interested.

I have several photos if anyone would like to see (and can tell me how to put photos on this site).

Take care -- Chuck

The metal ones can still be worth alot too, not as much. I am not a rogers experts by any means but I have picked up a little. I guess if its in good condition you could probably get atleast over 1 k on it.

I see complete COB Dyna's going anywhere from $300 to $500. Some of the earlier 7 line Dyna's might go for more.

What is the finish on the drums? That would help determine value. Sounds like you have a Fullerton set with an add on Cleveland FT. I am a little confused about the FT with a Cleveland tag with a speckled grey interior.

Rogers would use up left over tags from Dayton even after the move to Fullerton. And also use Cleveland tags after the move to Dayton even though the drums were actually made in Covington, Ohio. Rogers had a very confusing history which we are still trying to sort out.

One thing we know for sure is Rogers made some of the best drums in the world.

Pictures would definately help in valueation on your set.
