Vintage Premier Signia Snare Drum Value?

Loading...

We have a vintage Premier snare drum in our store and have no idea what the value is. We have looked a little online but didn't find anything about the vintage drums. It is made in England. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

The strainer mechanism looks similar to my 1988 Genista. I think it might be a mid-'80s model, but I'm far from certain of the year. If it were my drum, I would ask between $250 and $300 for it. It's likely all birch, and should have a great sound. Hopefully, I'm wrong and it's worth considerably more, but a Premier expert would have to say.

Good luck.

Listen to him; I was guessing based on its similarities to my drum.

Yes, I guess I'm not sure if it could be considered vintage but it is a great drum. Top of the line Premier for the time. I agree with relayer's proposed value. Could even be a bit higher if in exceptional condition.

The deeper shelled Signia's are more sought after and command bigger bucks.

That looks like a Premier Signia Marquis snare.

The Signia line was introduced in the 90's (early 90's I think?), and included Premier Signia and Premier Signia Marquis. They are pretty much the exact same drum with a few differences:

-The Signia line has rerings, the Signia Marquis does not.

-The Signia line has undersized shells (5mm). It's entirely possible the

Marquis line has slightly thicker shells (6mm) but I'm really not sure on this one.

-Badges & available finishes.

People consider(ed) the Marquis line to be "cheaper", but they are both amazing drums, and I'd probably be hard pressed to tell the difference between the two sound wise.

The value mentioned seems about right. I might expect the $200-$250 range, only because it's not the most popular finish. That's just my personal opinion, though.

Oh, and just to clarify:

The Signia lines are indeed maple.

That's a long time from now. Seriously, I know nothing about my drum except that the guy bought it 1988. When I posted a picture of it here, I was told it was a Genista.

It's a very nice snare and appears to be top-of-the-line. What should it be called?

I would contact Premier. Surely someone there should be able to nail this down.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!
