vintage Pearl Purple

Loading...

Ok I will try this again, my last post disappeared! So I found a vintage purple Pearl kit! It looks nice, I'm wondering what it will sound like once I fix it up. I cant find my drum sticks! I'm more of a guitarist who doesnt have a drummer. I'm also a big fan of vintage Japanese stuff. Check it out.

I like 'em! They should sound OK with decent heads and tuning. Looks like the snare needs some parts, including some for the strainer.

I had a kit with the same badge as the one on the kick,I think it was a 1964/65 kit, mine had a seven lug a side floor tom, three re rings in the kick.

With the matching snare I would say you kit was worth 200.00 250.00 if the snare parts were all there and the kit was in good condition.

Cool kit but not worth a lot. Needs bottom hoops and rods and a number of parts for the snare, new heads, and a good cleaning. Market value? I'm no expert. $150? $350 if the right person falls in live with it? Could be random.

Thanks for the responses. I think I'll keep this kit and fix it up. I had another old Baxter kit that I sold to my buddy for his daughter.

I'd like to have a sound proof room so I can go off on these drums. Is there something you can get to quiet the drums so you can practice?

I recently sold a kit pretty much like yours:

They sound pretty good, really. Folks on the forum or eBay will help you out with parts... try to find someone local to you to save on shipping costs though. Replace / repair / restore the kit, put some 'good' single ply heads on 'em and you'll have a rockin' set of drums, that look as good as they sound.

For muffling, poor man's method: Face towels, shop rags (new or not oily, clean), over each drum head (batter side) cuts back on the racket. If you have serious sound issues, rubber muffles are made to set on the batter head and these effectively deaden everything. That's the problem though, it kills the drum... makes things sound like you're playing a cardboard box.

Tasmania, please show some pics of the inside of the shells? Are they wood or are they phenolic? Don't know about phenolic? Google it. The phenolic shells are good sounding thin shells that will outlive human beings on this earth.
