Vintage Pearl hex tom arms...

Loading...

From Fayray

I've only seen the thicker ones and mine have 4 square headed rods for tightening the adjustments. They seem to have been available from 1970 -73. The catalogs don't seem to show a thinner version so maybe it's a stencil version not used on Pearl branded drums?...and John has the answer for you while i was typing

Oh - are you guys referring specifically to the bottom shaft that goes into the bass drum? Yeah, I have never seen or had that Pearl mounting with the six sided pieces that closes in on the bottom shaft.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

On both of these mounts, the arm Hex shaft size/thickness is the same Eg.. BD fitting = Tom fitting at the socket ends..

Cheers

John

I know one thing in 1976 they changed from the metal fingers that grab the hexagon shaft on the toms and bass mount to a plastic sleeve just like the cymbal stands and the clamp cracked and broke off i bought my set new in 1976 and they all broke so the drum shop replaced all mounts with older style fingers .

Here's a pic of the earlier design... with the thinner hex rod.. The later ones (like your pic) had the "Bent" tom hex arm.. Prior to your pic the tom arm sections were straight. Note that the earlier mounts were still used on Pearl "Maxwin" kits well into the 70's..CheersJohnIf you need measurement on the later arm.. pm me & I'll dig though some boxes..

John,

I am looking for one of the hex arms, like the one you posted a picture of. Do you still have one available?

Hey... this thread was over 2 years ago.... But I do think you will pick up one of these on Ebay... They still appear from time to time... ( Maxwin is the "key searchword" here)...

Cheers
