Folks,
I stumbled across an interesting piece (and bought it) this weekend courtesy of Craigslist. It is apparently a Paiste 22" symphony gong, sold by Ludwig. It is stamped (into the metal) on the back with both Ludwig and Paiste Logos. The Paiste logo says "Paiste Made in West Germany" The stand is chromed, and apparently came with the gong. The double-headed beater that came with the gong and stand is also stamped Ludwig.
I see via research on the web that Ludwig and Paiste had some business relationships in the late 50's/early 60's, but does anyone here know when Ludwig was selling this particular type of product? I'd like to tell people the approximate age of the gong and stand when we are performing with it...
Yours in Drumming,
