vintage Nikkan (pre Yam.) snare pics

Loading...

Wanted to post up these sweet pics of a Nikkan (pre-Yamaha merger) snare for ID purposes. Little bit rough condition on this one but notice the lugs and the strainer designs. I have a 15x5 similar to this era and design but in much better cond. luckily. Hope you enjoy these shots, they`re from an active auction going on now. This one is currently at about 10$ with a few days to go. I place it`s worth at about the usual 50-60$

You found the missing link. The lugs, those are the ones I have on some no-name snares. Early no name. So they did make stencils before they became Yamaha.

Hi Wayne, these Nikkan were all luan as far as I know, and correct- no serial numbers. The Nikkan 15x5 I have seems to be typical of the era's luan mid-60s thin shells with rings. It could be said that it seems to show a little more care on the edges (smoother).

I post this particular snare mostly because of the clear photos- give us a view into some other companies lug abd throw designs. It`s hard to identify those no-brand stencils sometimes!
