Vintage Ludwig Physcadelic Red 1963

Hi There

I am not a drummer and pretty much know very little about drums. My dad was a drummer in a band in the 60's and I am posting here to try and find out some information for him.

He has a Vintage Ludwig Psychedelic Red 4 pce Drum Kit in perfect original condition. He says he bought it in Sydney Australia in Feb 1963 however all the info on the web says that the psych red pattern came out in 1967 but he says he bought his before Ringo made Ludwig famous! What we are wanting to know is did Ludwig bring out a this pattern earlier? how much it would roughly be worth for insurance purposes?Any info would be highly regarded. Thank you

The answer to the first question is a flat out NO. Ludwig did NOT come out with this finish until 1967. I think you're Dad's memory has faded a bit over time....it was the 60's after all....LOL!

As far as value, pics would help us give a better, more accurate idea of value. Its hard to say something is worth such and such without being able to get an idea of condition visually.
