I think you got ripped off by vintage drums. Ludwig standards generally go for around 600 bucks.

I didn't want to be the one to say it... but yeah. The Standard's were low end Ludwigs. Not sure if that means import or not. A really nice condition 5 piece Tiger Eye wrap set of Standard's just sold on eBay for $495.00.

Sorry :(

Hello Ludwig Juggernaut!

I think the set you have is extremely nice and I have never seen such a nice example if they are as mint as you say they are in that color.

Although the Standards do not bring as much as other Ludwig drums, they are the same shells as the Ludwig 3-ply's that everyone loves with different hardware.

A dealer sells drums for more then what you would pay from Ebay and or a private sale, because they offer a return policy and also sell a certain quality that you would not normally find.

A Ludwig Standard snare just sold for $200 on Ebay and I think your prestine set is worth more then the estimates given here, only because they do not come up in this condition.

I have been looking for many years to find a set like that in that condition and have not seen one.

In regards to Vintage Drum and Ned, he gets regularly bashed by another drum forum every time his name comes up, but there is no reason for that to happen here.

Other then that be happy with that purchase and understand you have one very clean and unique set of Standards.

In regards to a selling price, the market in my opinion is really slow at the moment for certain items like this and not the best time to sell it. If you really nead the cash, then you have to do what you have to do..

I sold 6 snare drums this month to come up with some $$

Wait for a decent offer that you can live with.

No question they are nice drums, and sound just as good as the classics. Oh and sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
