vintage ludwig 8x14 ?

Loading...

Hi there ,

I was reading a book about fleetwood mac written by the music engineer who recorded Rumours in 1976.

He says Mick used a 8 inch Ludwig snare , though the first records I can find of a ludwig 8" is the coliseum in 1984 here-http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/ludwig_snare_drum_catalog_pages.html

Does anyone else know of any before that date ?

Thanks,

Brett

Yep, I've got an 8 x 15 WFL snare from the '50s. It's a beast.

Hey guys ,

It's in an Engineer's book called "Making Rumours " by Ken Calliet.

Unfortunately the only info he gives is that "Mick played his 8" ludwig snare. "

This and I know it was recorded in 1976 .

Thanks,

Brett

Ken Caillat's book is interesting reading, but there is little technical detail about the recording process and any of the instruments used. I will certainly listen to those songs again with renewed appreciation.

It's more about the band's creative process (and their convoluted personal relationships), aided and abetted by copious amounts of drugs and alcohol.

And it's primarily the story of the producer, who was in his mid- to late-20s then, being in the right place at the right time.

Bun E. - Do you own, (in your collection) or play, any 8" deep ludwig snares? If yes, do you have any photos you can share?

John

Too many great drums to list here!
