I'd appreciate it greatly if anyone could help date this particular floor tom for cataloging purposes.

THANKS in advance for your time and your help!

I appreciate that information but I'm trying to narrow down the year of manufacture. I've never been clear on when the company installed the "cigar" lugs and when they used the "small beavertails".

The beavertails were introduced in 1940 or late 1939 actually. this floor tom you've shown is most certainly a 40's model.

Those Beavertails look like the later ones with the little "lip" on them by the threaded insert. Hard to tell for sure in the pics though. The Slingerland history section at www.coopersvintagedrums.com has some good timeline info. That's a beauty you have there!!! Wow! I like. Mind Blowi

Forgot to say there's a Slingerland lug section on Coopers site that shows a comparison pic of the early 40-47 and later 48-54 beavertails.

I'm assuming it's some version of Black Diamond Pearl.

Nice. I thought it might be but wasn't sure. I'm not well versed on the early wrap finishes.

Toms went to sticksavers in '48, so this one would appear to be before that.
