Vintage Del Rey Drum Set on Craigslist

Loading...

I have a Gretsch knock-off "Tempest". I will shoot some pics and land them here in this thread. Not sure how much it will help though, as I have no bass drum. BTW everybody, be on the lookout for any wording on the insides of parts. JAPAN was not always the only thing seen in there.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Kenwood, glad you were able to grab these. I posted the link as I thought Jay would scoop them up. I recently got a really nice Del Ray snare. Much better construction than most other MIJ kits. I just don't have the room for another complete kit but always looking for really interesting wrapped snares to add to my collection

No Guru - I just love collecting & learning about vintage drums!

Some of my favorites from the kits in the collection
58 WFL New Yorker Blue Sparkle
67 Ludwig Hollywood Red Psychedelic
69 Ludwig Standard Red Ruby Strata
70's Ludwig BOP "Ringo" Kit

A few of my favorite snares
20's Leedy Black Elite
51 Leedy & Ludwig Knob Tension
58 WFL Buddy Rich Classic Blue Sparkle
63 Walberg & Auge Sea Blue Agave Green Pearl
66 Leedy Shelly Manne Blue Agate Pearl

Note: My Tempest has the Gretsch hardware - and I just read that Mr. Cooper was the retailer for Tempest - and his supplier was Pearl.

So far, my guess is Pearl.

Kenny, I like what Dan dubbed you "King of MIJ" in the region. I've been to you place and you are definitely the MIJ king!!
