Vintage Apollo set on CL

MIT, that is correct. This is the very same shells and drums as the very fiorst Exports/Maxwins/Royce. They are Pearl made drums and they are worth about 200-250 in this condition, even with the light duty work of practice kits of this age, they are worth about the same. These are right at 1975-77, using old hardware.

The age is correct, they have been in boxes all these years according to the original post.

Thanks Jonnistix.

I told the folks who sold them to me that I would try to verify their vintage nature. The MIT angle threw me, but I did not say anything at the time. I was afraid I was gonna have to tell them they were 'jobbed' by the Jersey Boyz, but that is not the case.

You know your stencils. If you say they check out that's good enough for me.

At $200 invested I feel good about them.

What about the Remo heads? Play em or save 'em?band2

Since they are unplayed, keep 'em. Those are some hard to find NOS heads.

If the kids are going to beat on them, I would go with Attack pack, they are cheap. All the heads for $50.00, each side. Snare you will need to buy an Evans hazy bottom, and that should do it. I would not go all out on heads til they learn how to play. Attack heads are good, strong heads.

Before I re-wrap these and turn them into just another cheap drum kit, is anyone interested in them for $200 (plus actual shipping) as a nearly mint example of ApOllo stencils?

I see the CL listing has been deleted, but I can send you pictures.

PM me if you are interested.

Hey John, if you chose to rewrap them, I would suggest going the vinyl wrap route as this would keep the originality intact, even though they are just stencils. This can go over the original wrap so you don't have to remove the PVC wrap and thus at some point, someone could restore them back to original. Just my :2Cents: Andf it is cheaper than going with higher cost "normal" wrap as it can be done for about 60 bucks or so, and on another C/L I found a guy selling the same stuff for even less than the ebay listor. I will re-post his email in a minute.

That's a very good set for an 11 year old. That's the age when I got my drum set for X-mas. For years I wondered what my folks were thinking as I would spend hours beating the h*ll out of them, but now when I hear my son playing downstairs, I guess I know why ;-) ..........Keep on Pl
