Ok, problems first:

The badge is 60's, but the strainer/throw-off is 70's. Either the strainer has been changed or somebody swapped out the badge on a 70's supra trying to pass it off as a 60's drum. I'd have to see the drum myself to know for sure which.

Tone control is missing.

Snares are missing.

Snare gate on hoop is bent.

On the plus side... it -is- a Supra.

Value? In current condition with open questions about 'when' it was made, and whether or not that keystone badge is a transplant, I'd say, $150/$175.00 to $225.00. An example of a Keystone Supra that is in as good cosmetic condition as that one is, with all the original parts and heads would fetch $275.00 to $325.00.

John, may I ask, how do you know this drum is a supra? Is it the imperial lugs/shell? How does one identify a supra. Just want to know in case I ever come accross one.

Thank you,

Jeff C

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Jeff - From the photo of the inside of the shell. The Ludwig flange/bearing edge is very distinctive, as is the central bead. But I based my ID mostly from the flange.

Mark - The only reason I called the strainer a discrepancy is; because Ludwig wasn't using that strainer in 65/66. The serial number dates the badge to mid-sixties but the strainer didn't actually appear until the end of the decade. That's why I figured either somebody swapped out the strainer or the badge. There 'should be' a P-83 on there.
