Thanks for the information. I really should get my hands on that book.

I just spent some time with the drums and noticed something.

Look at these pictures:

Notice how the "part next to the rim" is wood colored on one side and metal colored on the other side of the bass drum. That doesn't look original.

I checked the bottom of my cymbalstand and it was a Premier Olympic Flush Base stand. By the way, does any one know if Slingerland used stickers on their late 50's early 60's stands and stools?

That's just the "flesh hoop" part of the head...it's meaningless...don't worry about that. Not sure when the stickers started, but I'm guessing the mid-sixties...
