Hi Folks, I'd like to share my most recent creation with you:
A solid stave/segmented snare drum, 14 x 5,25 inch
Description:
This drum is a mix of stave and segmented construction (segmented re-rings). I used African mahogony and Mediterranian oak. The Oak has a nice story to it: I took it home from a holiday on Cres, a Croatian island. It was a small log I found in the forest. Mediterranian Oak is very hard en dense, more so than ‘normal’ oak. The hardware on this drum is completely home-made (even the strainer and the tension-rods); it’s made of steel that I tinned (using a flame, flux and solder). This drum sounds quite loud and has an amazing crack. Rim-shots are massive.
