I had a posting that had, in the title, "black oyster pearl". The drum was a Ludwig "black oyster pearl". Ebay removes my posting and sends me a very long email that says pretty much, "you can't use names to draw other searchers to your site". Without going into great detail, I was told that using the word pearl would draw searchers looking for Pearl drums to my posting. That is what they said...and that is what they believed.
After 3 emails, and I can't believe how well I calmly tried to make them understand that "black oyster pearl, or blue oyster pearl, or white marine pearl" was a descriptive term used to describe what I was selling. Nothing remotely related to the Pearl drum company and actually necessary to be in the title so that when someone, looking for "black oyster pearl", would have my posting included with the rest that popped up.
Finally I asked for this person to take this issue to a superior as I wasn't making any headway at all with the representative I was talking with and just couldn't get them to understand that they are wrong here, not me, not my title..."them". Next email I get said, "sorry, we were wrong. Your posting will be put back up and "all negative notes will be expunged"....???
I had since reposted using "black oyster" without that nasty word Pearl and thought it was better than the first one so I told them let it be, leave me alone and try to find someone that needs policing for real.
Yes, I too hate ebay, but I must admit, even here on this site, I sell more drums through them than anywhere else ( or could, if I'd sit down at this stupid computer long enough ). Until something better comes along, I guess I'll fight when needed and use that site to the best of my limited ability.
