Single tension, single flange hoops with a nice cast centering piece for the long rods. And the vent hole grommet looks to be bakelite. This has to be older than what I'd thought was the oldest MIJ I'd seen, which was a Pearl from the late 50's.
VERY old MIJ F.T.
As an MIJ enthusiast, THAT is Way cool! Unfortunately, as you surely know - chances are slim to none that you will ever be able to find any matching pieces, as MIJ that old is rare, at least to our American eyes and hands.
The shell?

Used to have a Star set in this color, very cool!
No disrespect, but how do You know that it's so old? Can't it be just a student model?

Yes, that is a possibility. Some 60's Slingerland student snares have single-flange hoops with hooks.
It's simple - you look at the catalogs of Star/Pearl and it confirms that with that style of features - it dates back to the early years of Pearl. Star started in 65 - look through their catalogs -
While there were at least 3 Japanese drum manufactures - chances are it was Pearl.
Myself - no time to dig this deep right now, but I believe this info IS out there to confirm these suspicions.
Yes, there were single flanged hoops/hooks in the 60s - but by Japanese in the 60s?

Interesting drum, but boy oh boy is that the cheapest of the cheap. Look at those floor tom leg lugs....I bet they didnt hold up the legs for very long.
