"this isn't a picture of the original, but apparently the company (Hinger Touch Tone) that used to make them went out of business, and someone else has taken up the gauntlet.

This used to be called the Space Tone snare. It's now called the Black Swamp Retrosonic. the amount of space between the top and bottom shell is adjustable, between 0 and 3/4 of an inch. Shell is made out of resin. You open up the two sides to get a field drum sound, or close them to get a more standard snare sound".
