Value Of Vintage Ludwig Kit

So do I. In NYC a set like that would be gone in about 5 minutes.

THANKS TO ALL for the great feedback and recommendations. I really do appreciate it.

I'll be heading out tomorrow morning to see the kit. I'm not getting my hopes up since I've had many instances in which an owner of a kit described it as "excellent" or "mint" only to find out that the kit was in extremely poor condition. Hopefully, this won't be one of those instances. The fact that the wrap has "yellowed" somewhat doesn't concern me. Personally, I believe it gives the kit a much more vintage appearance, which I actually prefer.

RICH K: Thanks for the suggestion. I'm done asking questions. As I said, I'll be viewing the kit in the morning with cash in hand.

mlvibes: Appreciate your input, as usual. If things work out, I'll actually get the kit for less than $200 per drum, plus I'll get a pedal and hi-hat stand with it.

O-Lugs: FYI -- the serial numbers on the badges are 646807, 648606 and 648651. I also was told that the original mufflers are there and function fine.

Bebop & lucky: Thanks for taking the time to provide your input. I agree that the condition of the kit will determine whether or not it's a good deal. Hopefully, it will be!

Super B: On my very restricted budget I can only buy the "cool stuff" that I'm able to find at reasonable prices. I count on forum members like yourself to help me make that determination. I've still got two kids away at college that are costing me a pretty penny. In regard to your "adoption", if I keep buying more kits I just might be the one looking for a new home. I promised the wife I'd only be looking at snare drums. However, a good deal is a good deal and they don't come along very frequently. I like to try to take advantage of a good situation when it presents itself. THANKS AGAIN for your input!

Rats, now, I have to win the lottery. If you buy the kit, make sure to take some pictures and post 'em.

Well, I did pick up the kit.

I obviously haven't had any time yet to clean it up, but I've attempted to attach a few pics for those who've asked. Hopefully, I've been successful.

BTW -- The Buddy Rick Be-Bop snare you see in a few of the pics obviously wasn't included with the kit. I just added it for the purpose of completing the kit for the pictures I was taking.

THANKS to all for your help and your feedback!Cool1

Very nice deal! I have a july 8th 1968 22,13,16 in silver sparkle. That was a good deal. Is that two badges on the bass drum??!?

WFLKURT -- There's one badge on the bass drum. In front of it is a factory-drilled hole which I believe was for a straight cymbal mount like I've got on my '63 Ludwig Club Date kit. The prior owner mounted a Ludwig washer in the hole.

SUPER B: In regard to your requested "adoption", I might soon be an orphan myself if I bring home any more kits.

THANKS AGAIN to all who helped me with my decision to pick this one up!

Rats! Don't get "orphaned" and play those sweet drums! MORE PICTURES, please.
