Value of Rogers Bongos

Loading...

In a week or so I should have a chance to have a look at a Red Onyx Dayton-era Rogers drum set that will be up for sale. Seller evidently has matching 8 and 10 inch bongos. I'm wondering what the Rogers experts here think the bongos would add to the price of the drum set (assuming all in "great condition" as described by seller).

Thanks!

Tiny Rogers drums indeed! Check the measurements as my Cleveland era bongos are 6” and 8”. It is hard to place a value as they don’t come up for sale that often. I vaguely remember seeing some listed for at least $350, but not recently. Perhaps GrandpaClev will weigh in. He has a very nice collection of tiny Rogers drums.

Finding replacement heads can be challenging as standard drum heads don’t work properly. I believe I paid $250 for mine and had to have new calf heads tucked for them. A set of bongos would be a wonderful addition to any complete Rogers set.

Powertone is correct with his assessment. Sizes are most likely 6" and 8". Condition is everything in determining value. As stated, the biggest issue will be obtaining bongo heads!

Just re-read seller's email and you're quite right -- they're 6" & 8". Thanks for your post and photo!

I've only seen a few Red Onyx bongos over the years. I would think the value depends on condition and the market that week. There is no set prices but I would think that it would add $200-300 if there are no splits in the pearl. Hope this helps. As Powertone mentioned I do like Rogers bongos...a...lot! Good luck.
